Southern Illinois Residents Invited to FEMA Updated Flood Maps – Open House Meetings January 2023
Everyone should attend an upcoming Flood Risk Open House with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the St. Louis Metro East Region. Especially if your property is currently mapped within a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), currently have flood insurance, are in the building industry as a realtor, lender, insurance agent, or are simply not sure and would like to learn more about your updated flood maps.

This January, meet one-on-one with experts from FEMA and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to learn about your specific flood risk and ways to help prevent flood loss. Some buildings may be included for the first time! Check your property by reviewing the preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM).
Preliminary FIRM updates will will determine, in part, if you must buy flood insurance for your property in a high-risk flood area.
