Featured Projects

St. Louis Community College Transformed – Meramec Campus
Presented by Chrissy Hill Rogers, AIA, LEED AP, Principal at Arcturis

The Financial Services and Enrollment Center will serve as the new front door to the Meramec Campus. Seeking LEED certification, the 70,000 SF project allows for expansion of financial programming on campus, with a focus on FinTech, entrepreneurship, and space accounting, while the first floor will feature the Enrollment Center, offering recruiting, enrollment, career development, and financial aid services to students. The project design draws people into the central spine, which serves as a mixing chamber, and the floor plan has been laid out to provide ultimate flexibility.

Fostering a Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Approach: Patrick Henry Downtown Academy
Presented by Dr. Chavon Curry, Interim Principal at Patrick Henry Downtown Academy

Patrick Henry Downtown Academy, a 2023 U.S. Dept. of Education Green Ribbon Schools Honoree, was the first public school in St. Louis City to receive this national distinction. In recent years, they took steps to transform their historic building into a haven of sustainable efforts. The award recognized achievements in reduced environmental impact, improved health and wellness, and effective environmental and sustainability education. Every school year, the Academy engages students, families, and staff to better themselves through bettering their environment.

Net Zero Carbon…What if?
Presented by Jason Hainline, AIA, LEED Fellow, Design Associate at Dake Wells Architecture

Originally designed by the 20th century’s most prolific industrial designers, Dake Wells Architecture’s new digs were sitting vacant and all but forgotten for over two decades. Representative of a more middle class mid-century modernist architecture, this 1940’s parts and services commercial building will represent the firm’s foray into carbon neutrality, reimagining its relationship with the earth.

Presented by Phil Valko, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Sustainability at Washington University in St. Louis

The confluence of technology advances, new federal policy incentives, and evolving fields of practice are opening new opportunities to accelerate a range of sustainability solutions on projects from single buildings to large campuses. Hear about examples of specific, tangible steps that can be taken to rise to the urgent need to mitigate and adapt to a changing climate.
