Connecting GSQ to Missouri Green Schools
A monthly virtual speakers series sharing Green Schools Quest project stories and resources to support schools in their green schools endeavors.
The March 31st Connect on the Quest will focus on Connecting Green Schools Quest to Missouri Green Schools.
Each year, students across the state implement no/low-cost sustainability projects at their schools with the help of their school sponsor and Green Mentor through the Green Schools Quest: A Project-Based Challenge. Over 200 schools have participated, many for multiple years, since the program launched in 2013. The impact of their projects is astonishing.
Currently in pilot, Missouri Green Schools is a new statewide recognition program which supports schools in taking a systems-based approach to identify and advance green schools practices and which also serves as the conduit for the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools award.
The Green Schools Quest and Missouri Green Schools go hand in hand – either can be an entry point to the other and schools can participate in both simultaneously. Both include opportunities for recognition and celebrate participants’ accomplishments.
In this session, we’ll walk through examples of how a school might participate in both programs simultaneously using the criteria for one to guide and satisfy criteria for the other – leveraging both programs together for greater impact!
