Annual State of the Council 2025

This year’s State of the Council venue showcases what it looks like when a community center embraces a community-driven, holistic approach to going green. Sustainability features include access to daylight and views to the outdoors, recycled finishes, native plants and habitat restoration, stormwater management, night sky and bird friendly exterior lighting and more. One special feature is a large hickory tree that had to be removed from the site, which was wood kiln-dried and repurposed as the lobby’s fireplace mantle. On going green operations means no single-use plastics on site, nature-based art throughout the building, and a connection to the extension of the Centennial Greenway—a two-mile-long trail along I-170 linking the communities of Clayton, University City, Ladue and Olivette.
